Structural Steel Fabrication

Mr. Goodwin’s experience in structural steel began in 1958 as a trainee for Tucker Steel Corporation (TSC) in Knoxville, Tennessee.  In that period of time, TSC was
one of the largest and most prominent fabrication plants in the Southeastern USA.  TSC helped establish many of the fabrication standards which strengthened the specifications and which help to refine the code of standard practice for the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).

TSC did essentially the same for the Steel Joist Institute (SJI) as they became then, one of the largest and most secure steel joist manufacturers of their time supplying joists, not only to building contractors across the nation, but to the U.S. Government supplying the various branches of the military as well as NASA.

TSC was instrumental in the construction of “The Redstone Arsenal Project,” which became known as “The Saturn Test Flight Facility” in Huntsville, Alabama during the early to mid 1960s.
